After SchoolTutoring University

Tutoring University Director Christy Reaves with two students in the program.

Students work on a video game component used in the program called LightSpan.

The ratio for each tutoring group is around three students to one teacher.

Hands-on activities and manipulatives are used to support and reinforce foundation skills.

Odenville Intermediate School uses Title I funds to offer after school remediation and homework help with math skills.  Students are sent invitations based on ARMT data and classroom teacher observations.  Students are then placed in a very small group (Ratio: 1 teacher to 3-4 students) with a certified and highly qualified teacher in the math content area.  The small groups work on building, strenghthening, and reinforcing basic concepts in math.

  • The program is provided free of charge by Title I Federal Money.
  • The program operates from October 19-March 17.
  • The program meets on Monday (3rd graders) and Wednesday (4th graders).
  • Students meet from 3:15 - 5:00
  • Students receive approximately an hour of homework help and remediation and will also receive an hour of physical education activities that involves "Moving to Math"
  • Continuation in the program is dependent on weekly attendance.  Student's attendance is critical to student improvement.
